Batman Buzz: Is Megan Fox really going to play Catwoman?
As summer blockbuster season draws to a close, there’s been a sudden swirl of rumors regarding the next highly-anticipated Batman movie — namely, today, reports that Megan Fox has been pegged to play Catwoman.
Now obviously these are just rumours (the film hasn’t even been announced yet), but already Batman fans appear to be up in arms about the casting of an actress best known for… well, not her acting. And while we ourselves are skeptical that anyone could top Michelle Pfeiffer’s turn in the catsuit… from a merchandising and eBay standpoint, we actually kind of like this move!
Consider that, for a Hollywood star, Fox sells remarkably well on eBay: in the last 90 days, for instance, she’s totalled 6,655 eBay.com listings — more than Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Biel, Lindsay Lohan, and many others. She’s also been successfully entrenched in another merch-heavy movie series (Transformers) and graced the cover of, oh, about half the magazines in existence. (FHM, in 2008, declared her the “Sexiest Woman in the World.”)
So what do these rumblings mean for eBay in the short term? Well, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a spike in “Megan Fox” sales over the next few weeks, nor would we be surprised to see a flurry of “Catwoman”-based activity.
And of course, as web rumours go, we wouldn’t “bat” an eye if the whole thing turned out false…
